Retro sunnies are so cute, so retro, so versatile! Wear them to a music festival, to the beach, to the shops, to a summer BBQ, Wayfarer-style with a super funky pattern. Factorie and Sportsgirl have plenty (Risky Business Sunnies from Factorie, $9.95, pictured). Also check out markets like the Gillies Street Market (on again this Sunday, 12th December) for some excellent sunglasses bargains.
Great for girls who have flat stomachs. Good motivation for those who don’t. Baggy crop tops are the staple wear for the up-and-coming summer music festivals. Pair with denim shorts, Ray-Bans, and sandals or vans.
If you’re not brave enough to bare skin then wear a singlet underneath, or team with high-waisted pants/shorts or a skirt.
MinkPink, bec & bridge, and staple have some super cute styles in lace, sparkles, and frilly versions to keep you in that in-between casual and dressy state that prevents you from awkwardly being over- or underdressed.
Milky Way Midriff Top by bec & bridge is pictured above.
Check out Sooki, TuYu, Niki Belle, and Globalize for all kinds of fabulous croppies!
This brightly coloured stand-out by State of Georgia, sold at Lax, Wild Child, Sooki, and Niki Belle.
This baby is on sale for $49 at Niki Belle. Otherwise check out the other Peep Toe stockists to see where else you can find their jewellery.
These awesomely funky pants are from Lisa Ho.
Then check out Colour Code Couture for some fabulous dresses that won’t be seen on anyone else. This amazing George Fashion ‘Vivien Gown’ is $576.
White dress + black belt = hot.
This Rodeo Show ‘Snake eye’ dress, $199 from Mylk Bottle (Mitcham Square Torrens Park and Mt Barker Road, Stirling) would look lovely with this ‘New Figure Elastic Belt’, $19.95 from Sportsgirl and a pair of black or nude heels (see previous posts about nude heels here and here).
This Blue Juice ‘Chiff Ruffle’ Dress, $99.95 and Mylk Bottle Waisted Belt, $34.95 ensemble (both from Mylk Bottle also) make a cute day outfit.
And this Cue belt, $139 would look oh-so-fabulous teamed with a white frock.
Wildfox Couture is an American vintage-inspired women’s knitwear brand and it is coming soon to Sooki. Can’t wait!!
While it’s pretty gross that Lolita was hooking up with an old man she did look super cute in those red heart sunnies. fredflare.com is selling a must-have replica pair for US $11, however, adding postage to Aus makes them pretty pricey, so I’d recommend trying your hand at getting a similar pair off ebay: here or here.
On the same train of thought, this Shakuhachi ‘Day Tripped Tiered Sun Dress’ would look cute on a 14-year-old but hot on someone older, and will be available later this month at Sooki for $240.
Sack dresses can be pretty if they are worn by the right body type and are the right size. Too big and they actually do look like a sack. Not to worry though, if you find a stunning sack dress that isn’t in your size they are quite easy to get fitted, take it to your local dressmaker and they will take in the dress for a service fee of about $40. As sack dresses must always be above the knee they tend to be quite leg-revealing, thus should only be worn by those with nice legs. If you pride yourself on your pins and think they are an asset to be proud of, then why not parade them around in a sack dress? These dresses are generally for those with long thin stems, designed to make them look even longer than they already are. Remember to slather on the fake tanner before wearing, no one wants pasty white legs on show.
If the sack dress is a bit too potato sack for you, you can always tighten them up at the waist with a belt, that way you can show people that you actually do have a figure.
Zimmerman on Rundle St in the city has some colourful sack dresses out in their new Spring/Summer collection, pictured above: Vertigo Drape Splice Dress, Fleeting Lilac Grid Tunic, Vertigo Paneled Micro Dress, and at the very top, Copy Cat Swing Dress. Some Zimmerman pieces can also be found at David Jones and Whistles. Whistles (Myer Centre, Adelaide, Regent Arcade, Adelaide, and King William Road, Hyde Park) has this very pretty yellow Chloe dress, ‘See by Chloe’ for $740 (it also comes in blue).
I ended up getting these platform peep toe pumps from Nine West to wear with my Camilla and Marc dress. They set me back $159. I just love the ankle strap because it makes them ten times easier to walk in! However, you must always be careful when wearing ankle straps because they tend to make calves look a bit on the biggish size.
Whistles has half price off on all of their Peep Toe heels at the moment, alas they did not have my size in the nude pumps, but maybe those of you with bigger or smaller feet will get lucky.
